#AglowMoments: Dusty Streets and Desert Sands

"Perhaps like me, you only ever dreamed of going to the Holy Land. If so, then keep listening because the Spirit may be calling you there sooner than you think! A month ago out of the blue, I received an invitation from Aglow pilgrimages to join them for a week long pilgrimage to the Holy Land. Obstacles melted away and before we knew it, we found ourselves on Israel’s soil braced for adventure. Before flying out, everyone at home warned us we were going into a war zone. The reality was quite different. There was political tension, sure, especially in Jerusalem but thanks to the careful planning, expertise and care of our guides and travel agents we kept our prayerful calm as we visited all the holy sites and fell in love with Jerusalem’s beauty. Then once out in Galilee the peace hits you like a heatwave and you start to think that if you were the Son of God you would choose to live there too. During one blessed week, we journeyed down dusty streets and desert sands, bobbed in the Dead Sea and swam in the lake of Galilee as we walked through the living scenes of the Bible. It was the journey of a lifetime, the journey of a soul. Coming face to face with Christ’s humanity, with Mary and Joseph and the apostles as real people blows your mind. Your Faith is never the same. The Bible goes from words to technicolour with sights, sounds and smells. At the end of our pilgrimage we sat by the shore of Galilee and sang our praises, the music carried across the waves by the night time breeze. I’m sure God was listening. "
